How Racism Works

After following this most historic of Presidential Elections, where for the 1st time an African American is a nominee, like many of, you I have seen a clear and unmistakable double standard. While the Obama campaign is grilled for the smallest actions, the most scurrilous ads and lies by the McCain campaign are largely overlooked by the media.

This double standard lead me to put forth the following questions that I call "What Ifs"

What If …….. John McCain was raised by a single Mom and Barack Obama's Dad was a 4 star Admiral and Commander of the US Navy.

What If …….. John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review and Obama graduated with a C- grade point average.

What If …….. McCain graduated Magna Cum Laude from Harvard and Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class (894 out of 899 graduates)?

What If …….. McCain were still married to the first woman he said 'I do' to? and Obama was the candidate who cheated on his 1st wife by dating his current wife.

What If …….. Obama admitted that he had multiple affairs within weeks of being released as a POW after learning that his 1st wife was crippled due to a car accident and no longer had her movie star good looks?

What If …….. We learned that Michelle Obama was the wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but stole pills from her charitable organization to satisfy her addiction?

What If …….. Cindy McCain graduated from Princeton University and Harvard Law School and Michelle was born with a silver spoon as the heir to a $100 million dollar beer company?

What If …….. McCain had a squeaky clean reputation in the Senate and Obama had been investigated by the Senate Ethics Committee for interfering in a Savings and Loan scandal called the "Keating 5'?

What If …….. Obama had 1173 pages of medical records and 4 bouts with skin cancer and McCain was issued a clean bill of health?

What If …….. McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker? And Obama had trouble simply reading the teleprompter?

What If ……. American voters judged the candidates on the content of their character instead of the color of their skin.

If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are? This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

New KITTEN!

We've adopted a new cat. It was a stray that had been wandering around our place for a week. None of the neighbors we talked to said it was theirs. Even if it was someone's the kitten was in poor condition. It had fleas and ear mites. It gobbled up food like it had never had it before. We doubt someone owned it but even if they did, like I said, it was in bad condition and that person wouldn't have deserved this kitten. We're guessing it's about 4 - 5 months old.

I named him Echo. I named him that because whenever he's meowing, if you happen to meow back at him, he'll always answer you. Seriously, we meowed back and forth for like a few minutes once. I'll upload pictures of him soon!

Republicans and conservatives in general have sunk to a new low. Now in place, republicans and conservatives are trying to ban certain forms of expression clothing wise when you go to the polling place on election night.

Apparently, they don't seem to remember that this is the same bullshit that conservatives in the deep south used to use to keep blacks out of the polls. Taxing the poll, literacy tests, etc. The Jim Crow laws, in essence. What's REALLY sad is that half the states are for it, and half against it.

Republicans apparently told a young woman in one of the early voting states that she was not allowed to wear an Obama tee shirt, out of fear that it might influence other voters to vote that way, who might have otherwise voted differently, had they not been exposed to such loathsome propaganda as a white tee shirt with the Obama logo on it.

Of course, I'd assume that if someone walked in with a McCain tee shirt on, no one would dare to say that they couldn't wear that.

It's insanity. It's a war on common sense. It's a conservative attempt to control everything within their means.

Democrats are urging young people to get out and vote this election, versus staying indoors, so the conservative response is to scare them off by saying that they can't wear anything that supports a candidate to the voting place. What they REALLY mean, of course, is that they can't wear anything that shows support for OBAMA, because that would just be too much... yeah...

To all you conservatives out there, stop trying to control people. Stop trying to prevent people from voting by scaring them off with your attempts to implement "requirements" for voting. You idiots have no idea what it is to fight fair.

We liberals and democrats would never DREAM of telling you that you couldn't wear a McCain supporting tee shirt or buttons, etc. That's YOUR personal freedom of expression in public and on your person.
No one can take that from you, so stop trying to take it from US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To follow up quickly on that last post I posted about republicans trying to sneak a dress code into the voting places to discourage any form of free expression, let me just say this too...

It's a slippery slope from banning Obama tee shirts to banning tee shirts or shorts, etc. One thing leads to another to another, and if you let them, they will bring it to the point where they'll have a strict dress code to simply enter the building, and "if you don't wear your sunday best to the voting place, then don't bother coming to vote, because if you don't wear to the voting place what you wear for Jesus on sundays then don't bother showing up.

This woman did everything but answer actual questions. She has been deemed "queen of the non-answer" by others in times past. She mispronounced the word "nuclear" at least 8 times, say the word as "nuke-you-ler" versus its correct pronunciation, "NUKE-lee-er.

She never outright denied that her administration would be any different from the present Bush regime.

She used numerous phrases that Bush has used in the past.

She did very little but personally attack Obama and Biden rather than actually answer questions.

She continuously uses the term "maverick," OVER AND OVER even though their administration offers nothing that could even remotely resemble maverick-ism.

She still insists that the war on terror can be "won." No, lady... it's another Vietnam. We need to cut our losses and help them out financially, not militarily. So yeah, OUT of Iraq...

She FLAT OUT LIED A NUMBER OF TIMES during the broadcast, and had to be corrected by Biden each time, which simply took time away from the debate, as I've noticed that democrats have to do this quite frequently. The republicans lie about something, and the democrats have to spend their time on the clock correcting them. This, in turn, leaves more time for republicans to spew their pathos, their hatred, their idiocy, their false accusations, and their flat out lies.

Anyone with half a brain needs to vote Obama.
